Braids & Beehives!

You know that feeling when everything just comes together? That's how I feel when I look at these pictures from my recent shoot with Hamilton Kerr.

Louise and I had a couple of ideas that we wanted to try out so after scouting about for a model with really long hair (thanks Robyn!), we set a date. I wanted to work with an abundance of hair to create a gorgeous silhouette that almost made you question whether it was a hat or her hair.

I also wanted to try doing the make up too and I am happy with the final result! I really enjoyed creating both the natural make up and the more sixties style make up and I learnt a lot through the process.

The first style is very neutral and laid back with minimal natural looking make up. Robyn has a nice texture to her hair so I really just encouraged this. I used some texturising powder to build volume and then I braided her hair working around her head to create a little 'hat' type shape leaving little wispy bits out to soften the style. It's a really beautiful picture.

The next look is more dramatic but fun. I am looking forward to seeing the rest from this shoot as there are some really elegant shots. I changed the make up by adding a really inky looking eye with lots of liner and lashes for a sexy, fluttery eye look. I kept her lips nude to give a sixties feel that compliments her BIG beehive hair! I used hair pads to build the shape for the hairstyle and I literally wrapped her hair around and pinned. Leaving it unkempt for a modernised twist on the classic Audrey Hepburn look.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! I will post more from this shoot as soon as I get the pictures.
